Character Info
Character Name: Miel Kha / Shirogane Tsuruyo (Warrior of Light)
Canon/Canon Point: Start of Shadowbringers
Character Age: 20
History: Tsuruyo was the sole child of a woman named Shirogane Tamamo, an Archon who specialized in elemental polarities. She was renowned particularly for her study in the Light element and due to her dedication she came to learn the truth nature of it and became obsessed. She saw a world in which individuality was wiped and all was stagnated as beautiful and the only path to peace.
Thus she studied Amdapor and came to know of Sin Eaters and dedicated herself to creating one with which to spread the Light. She got herself pregnant with Tsuruyo and left Sharlayan without a word leading most to think she had died. She returned to her home of Doma. Through extreme control of her eating, consistent light poisoning, what she was exposed to, and discipline Tamamo sought to mold Tsuryo into a vessel, but her plans were interrupted which led to her seemingly abandoning the child when she was seven years old.
Tsuryo was instead found by Lavanda of the Kha clan, a Xaelan of the Steppes who took her in and healed her. From then on she was raised as his sister, and as she had faked amnesia, was given the name Miel. She was able to do some healing from the abusive life she had led up until then, never having any idea of what her mother's plans had been for her nor that she could not be fully classified as human.
When was she nearing her 18th birthday several of the clan children died, something that Lavanda blamed himself for, and so he left for Aldenard unable to face the guilt and in hopes of bettering himself. She followed soon after and met back up with him in Gridania and from there on the two of them follow the game's storyline which can be found here. Both of them come to be known as the Warriors of Light.
Powers:Echo: The Echo is a gift that can manifest in a number of ways, but the constant trait is that it protects people from "tempering" which is falling under the thrall of creatures called Primals in the world of Hydaelyn. Essentially it prevents magical brainwashing.
For the Warrior of Light is also allows them to sometimes have visions of a person's past. Miel has had this ability from as young as she can remember.
White Magic: The ability to heal people of wounds and ailments, along with aero & geomancy.
Chirurgeon: Miel is a skilled doctor.
Monk: Highly skilled in hand to hand combat.
BÅjutsu: Trained in fighting with a staff.
Botany & Alchemy: She knows how to recognize, grow, and gather all manner of plants and create potions and magical trinkets.
Role in Ashbrook
Character Skills: Physical strength, agility, dexterity, martial prowess, healing/medical aid, inventiveness, wilderness survival.
Character Values: Honesty, loyalty, pragmatism, equality, strength, learning, perseverance, passion.
Role Opt-Outs: Open to all sans her being a mother or guardian.
Bonus details?: Yes
Personality Miel is a girl who unfortunately has been molded in many ways by the abuse she faced as a child---abuse that she mistakenly thinks she is completely over.
On the surface she seems incredibly friendly and dependable. She's pragmatic, has good work ethic, is able to easily engage in conversation. She can be blunt at times with her statements, believing that honesty is always best, but she's never cruel nor does she disregard the feelings of others. She's a person who is drawn to passion and the pursuit of knowledge and is always happy to listen to others rave about things they enjoy, even if she has no way of understanding it. She's got a sharp mind, an infallible sense of determination, and a keen eye to find the pathway needed to get her goals completed.
She bright, cheery, has a streak of friendly mischief in her and always has a smile on her face....always has a smile on her face. It's not to say that this is all superficial but it is no exaggeration to say that with the exception of a couple of months when her brother, Lavanda, first rescued her from the brink of death, that she has never frowned or appeared sad or angry. It is not because she doesn't feel these things but because her ability to properly process them had been damaged for her most formative years by the rhetoric of her mother which demonized anger as a childish, selfish and base emotion and sadness as one who's sincerity vanished the more you expressed it.
Because of this, and because of the fact that so many of her Doman kinsmen turned a blind eye to what was happening, Miel generally has very low esteem of society as a whole. She is a much better person than she thinks she is, but it wouldn't be a lie to say that at the beginning of the game if she had been on her own she likely would not have had enough altruism to aid in the events which eventually would cause her to become the Warrior of Light--that all happened simply because her brother had the compassion and she followed after him to make sure he would be safe and not taken advantage of.
In the beginning of the game, underneath the surface, Miel is significantly more cynical and judgmental of those around her. She dislikes the idea of "heroes" that is so greatly lauded in her world, seeing it as just a glorified title people give to others so that they can demand more and more from them. She feared for her brother and his bleeding heart and because of this had trouble making any genuine connections with others.
As time progresses she starts to realize more and more that her views and attitudes of others rather mirror those of people she once used to judge. After seeing the efforts and sacrifices that so many people made during the Doman and Ala Mhigan liberation efforts in particular it has caused Miel to do a lot of self reflection and realize that she's not the person that she wants to be nor does she even consider herself a 'good' person. The events of Stormblood and nearly losing her brother during their first encounter with a man named Zenos have made the cracks start to appear on the mask forced upon her.
It has caused her to do a lot of self reflection and she has begun to judge herself much more critically she also finds herself refusing to really open about any of this, not even with her brother. When it comes to forming relationships of actual significance, Miel can be rather closed off as she does not want to set herself up to be abandoned again as she has been before. The idea of being dependent on others, even if only emotionally, is also repugnant to her, despite her also craving having someone to lean on.
