In Ashbrook, Miel will be told she is a firefighter in the Ashbrook Fire and Rescue Department. She is well-liked and well-respected by her coworkers and the people of Ashbrook as a whole, and Sheriff Lot thinks highly of her. Her participation in the local martial arts scene has earned her the respect and awe of many local students, particularly Ricky Mallory. With her (apparently) positive attitude and dedication she's well on her way to becoming a Lieutenant in the force. She has lived in Ashbrook for at least 10 years.
The details of Miel's experiences in the fire department and the nature and extent of her martial arts practice as yours to decide!
You requested bonus details! You can include some, all, or none of these when fleshing out Miel's backstory, skills, and relationships with PCs and NPCs.
• Miel was not born in Ashbrook, but moved here at a young age; she was raised by a single mother, who often traveled for work
• Miel rents a small apartment on the edges of downtown Ashbrook
• Miel will discover trophies for several regional martial arts tournaments in her home, though it seems she never made it to state level competitions
• Speaking of her martial arts accomplishments, she has a friendly working relationship with Marshall, whom she has given several post-tournament interviews to
• Goody Spinner seems to have a bit of a grudge against Miel, which Miel can discover is due to some sort of mishap involving a firehose and Goody's herb garden.

Character Info
Character Name: Miel Kha / Shirogane Tsuruyo (Warrior of Light)
Canon/Canon Point: Start of Shadowbringers
Character Age: 20
History: Tsuruyo was the sole child of a woman named Shirogane Tamamo, an Archon who specialized in elemental polarities. She was renowned particularly for her study in the Light element and due to her dedication she came to learn the truth nature of it and became obsessed. She saw a world in which individuality was wiped and all was stagnated as beautiful and the only path to peace.
Thus she studied Amdapor and came to know of Sin Eaters and dedicated herself to creating one with which to spread the Light. She got herself pregnant with Tsuruyo and left Sharlayan without a word leading most to think she had died. She returned to her home of Doma. Through extreme control of her eating, consistent light poisoning, what she was exposed to, and discipline Tamamo sought to mold Tsuryo into a vessel, but her plans were interrupted which led to her seemingly abandoning the child when she was seven years old.
Tsuryo was instead found by Lavanda of the Kha clan, a Xaelan of the Steppes who took her in and healed her. From then on she was raised as his sister, and as she had faked amnesia, was given the name Miel. She was able to do some healing from the abusive life she had led up until then, never having any idea of what her mother's plans had been for her nor that she could not be fully classified as human.
When was she nearing her 18th birthday several of the clan children died, something that Lavanda blamed himself for, and so he left for Aldenard unable to face the guilt and in hopes of bettering himself. She followed soon after and met back up with him in Gridania and from there on the two of them follow the game's storyline which can be found here. Both of them come to be known as the Warriors of Light.
Powers:Echo: The Echo is a gift that can manifest in a number of ways, but the constant trait is that it protects people from "tempering" which is falling under the thrall of creatures called Primals in the world of Hydaelyn. Essentially it prevents magical brainwashing.
For the Warrior of Light is also allows them to sometimes have visions of a person's past. Miel has had this ability from as young as she can remember.
White Magic: The ability to heal people of wounds and ailments, along with aero & geomancy.
Chirurgeon: Miel is a skilled doctor.
Monk: Highly skilled in hand to hand combat.
Bōjutsu: Trained in fighting with a staff.
Botany & Alchemy: She knows how to recognize, grow, and gather all manner of plants and create potions and magical trinkets.
Role in Ashbrook
Character Skills: Physical strength, agility, dexterity, martial prowess, healing/medical aid, inventiveness, wilderness survival.
Character Values: Honesty, loyalty, pragmatism, equality, strength, learning, perseverance, passion.
Role Opt-Outs: Open to all sans her being a mother or guardian.
Bonus details?: Yes
Personality Miel is a girl who unfortunately has been molded in many ways by the abuse she faced as a child---abuse that she mistakenly thinks she is completely over.
On the surface she seems incredibly friendly and dependable. She's pragmatic, has good work ethic, is able to easily engage in conversation. She can be blunt at times with her statements, believing that honesty is always best, but she's never cruel nor does she disregard the feelings of others. She's a person who is drawn to passion and the pursuit of knowledge and is always happy to listen to others rave about things they enjoy, even if she has no way of understanding it. She's got a sharp mind, an infallible sense of determination, and a keen eye to find the pathway needed to get her goals completed.
She bright, cheery, has a streak of friendly mischief in her and always has a smile on her face....always has a smile on her face. It's not to say that this is all superficial but it is no exaggeration to say that with the exception of a couple of months when her brother, Lavanda, first rescued her from the brink of death, that she has never frowned or appeared sad or angry. It is not because she doesn't feel these things but because her ability to properly process them had been damaged for her most formative years by the rhetoric of her mother which demonized anger as a childish, selfish and base emotion and sadness as one who's sincerity vanished the more you expressed it.
Because of this, and because of the fact that so many of her Doman kinsmen turned a blind eye to what was happening, Miel generally has very low esteem of society as a whole. She is a much better person than she thinks she is, but it wouldn't be a lie to say that at the beginning of the game if she had been on her own she likely would not have had enough altruism to aid in the events which eventually would cause her to become the Warrior of Light--that all happened simply because her brother had the compassion and she followed after him to make sure he would be safe and not taken advantage of.
In the beginning of the game, underneath the surface, Miel is significantly more cynical and judgmental of those around her. She dislikes the idea of "heroes" that is so greatly lauded in her world, seeing it as just a glorified title people give to others so that they can demand more and more from them. She feared for her brother and his bleeding heart and because of this had trouble making any genuine connections with others.
As time progresses she starts to realize more and more that her views and attitudes of others rather mirror those of people she once used to judge. After seeing the efforts and sacrifices that so many people made during the Doman and Ala Mhigan liberation efforts in particular it has caused Miel to do a lot of self reflection and realize that she's not the person that she wants to be nor does she even consider herself a 'good' person. The events of Stormblood and nearly losing her brother during their first encounter with a man named Zenos have made the cracks start to appear on the mask forced upon her.
It has caused her to do a lot of self reflection and she has begun to judge herself much more critically she also finds herself refusing to really open about any of this, not even with her brother. When it comes to forming relationships of actual significance, Miel can be rather closed off as she does not want to set herself up to be abandoned again as she has been before. The idea of being dependent on others, even if only emotionally, is also repugnant to her, despite her also craving having someone to lean on.

Backtagging: I love by backtagging. Please, it is never too late to respond to a comment of mine. I can be quite slow myself.
Threadjacking: 99% of the time am perfectly fine with this if my partner is too. Only exception would be if it's delineated as a private thread. Is that still a thing people do on networks??
Fourthwalling: No please.
Mind Reading: Proooobably not? This seems like something the Echo would give her an immunity to but I'm not 100% sure on that. Will change to confirm/deny as I progress through the game.
Touching: Sure thing. Miel's not adverse to it and probably wouldn't be too bothered unless your character went out of their way to be weird about it.
Shipping/Kissing: Open to both romantic shipping and just fwb type situations. I don't have any ships with her at the moment so if something natural builds I'm game, or if you'd like to discuss the possibility of building it I'm all ears.
Fighting/Injury: Sure thing! Just talk to me first so we can work out something.

Feb. 20th, 2023 01:27 pmMiel hadn't been sure what to expect when Mother Miounne told her and Lavanda that they would be joining forces with some adventurers from Ul'dah. She had never trusted her back to complete strangers before and admittedly somewhere in the back of her mind she had more than a small degree of reservations. Yet from the sounds of what was going on in Satasha it seemed like it would be significantly tougher than any of the other quests she or the other civilians of Gridania had given them.
Yet once they had begun their journey into the former gathering grounds of the Sahagin, Miel quickly learned that her wariness had been for naught. The adventurer guild leaders really had known what they were doing when they brought them all together, for their strengths seemed to balance one another perfectly. Almost eerily so.
All the same they hadn't exactly had much time to get to know each other much beyond exchanging names. Momodi had asked them to remain here in the Quicksand, offering them all board in Hourglass Inn. After cleaning up she and Lavanda had thought to get themselves a meal and that's when her eyes fell upon Mykha sitting a lone at a table.
"Let's see if they want to dine together." She said, nodding in their direction.

Warriors of Light Plotting Post!
Feb. 6th, 2023 01:01 pmHello everyone of you beautiful people.
Tis Coco and I'm creating this entry here for all of us to discuss things. I already know everyone but Ziri, Alba, I'd like ya'll to meet Buttons! Buttons, Ziri and Alba.
As a heads up much like myself Buttons has not completed the game. They are a little ahead of myself having only just finish Stormblood so please be mindful of spoilers around them too. I figure that we can just chat here and everyone can create comments with a basic rundown of their character. You can be fully detailed OR just keep to what you feel would be necessary for them just meeting.

Temp Starter Info
Oct. 28th, 2022 02:31 pmAs of 03/07/2023 I am currently late StB. Starting the quest "Gone Like the Morning Dew". All subject to change given I am not at endgame but here is what I have so far.
Please note that Miel's history contains child abuse/emotional abuse/allusions to eating disorders/Factitious disorder among the general fuckery you can find in FFXIV.
Also this is very much generalized and I will never force anything upon anyone playing an NPC. Unless the mun of the NPC explicitly states they are ok or want something specific themselves I'll just keep it to what's in canon. Miel does not have any romantic relationships with ANY of the NPCs.
Her birth name is Tsuruyo Shirogane (given, surname) but she has long gone by Miel Kha
Her biological mother is Tamamo Shirogane.
Her biological father is unknown and never present in her life.
Born in Yanxia.
A Raen born to a single mother who had very fanatical ideas of 'goodness' and 'nobility' such as "anger is a bad emotion" which lead to various acts which subconsciously conditioned Miel. She has a lot of difficulty expressing negative emotions and so she can come off as very insensitive or off when she's stepford smiling through terrible situations or violently eviscerating someone all c:
To be more specific her mother was one of those 'live vicariously through your child' sorts and obsessed with those romantic/tragic legends figures of the perfect, noble woman who found prestige through sacrifice.
Kept Miel on a very tight diet to try and make her ""beautiful"" and as scholar would use barriers to keep her locked up until "she got over her fits" whenever Miel expressed anger or annoyance. Was forced into intense studies, wanting her to be a scholar as well. While Miel enjoys a good challenge, both mental and physical, that fact that it was forced upon her made her unable to be invested.
Fighting against the barriers, however, was part of what started to help her become physically able and studying lead her to learning to how to create small barriers for her limbs while fighting. Beyond that she knows no other scholar skills.
Developed the Echo at a very early age and was quite open about it, much to the chagrin of those around her. She thought she could use it to help people but most were discomforted by it.
Was much more interested in technology and would often scavenge the machines you find throughout Yanxia. Began to teach herself through these and whatever info she could dig up. A Yanxian soldier recruited by the Empire saw her potential and would bring her books.
Only quasi friend as a child was Yotsuyu. Her mother was friends with her adopted mother so they knew of each other. Despite her own hunger pains would oft share her food with Yotsuyu and had an understanding that her situation was infinitely worse. The two girls shared their dreams together, and their wish to be helpful and loved by their families.
Was eventually abandoned by said mother when she was "too much" and for one year Miel was a wildchild of Othard until she was found by Lavanda of the Kha clan who took her in despite the fact she tried to hunt him down for food.
When she feigned having no name, he gave her the name of Miel.
Adopted mother is Namuunaa, widower to Odtsetseg
Initially struggled with feeling like she didn't belong in the Kha clan. Most of the adults readily welcomed her, a couple of the kids commented on her white scales but without ill intent but it struck her. Would get into fights.
When she first learned of the test taken at Bardams Mettle she undertook the trial without informing anyone as a way of "earning her keep."
Since the Kha clan canonically lives on the borders of the Steppes and exchanges a lot with other cultures she learn yet more about technology and especially magitech. Came to invent some things of her own such a a sword roulette carrier that was meant to be for farm tools but what dyou know it got repurposed.
Lived with the clan for many years until an incident happened in which some of the children died. Lavanda blamed himself and left for Gridania to train in the famous archer's guild
When she found out his reason for leaving, Miel followed after him
From then on storyline plays out with BOTH Lavanda and Miel becoming Warriors of Light.
Personality wise I'm still working out things but a lot of her motivation is just in helping her brother. Of the two he's definitely the more genuinely compassionate whereas Miel focuses her care on very specific individuals. She does grow more sincere as the journey goes on.
By which I mean she still does a lot of what the WoL does in helping others but it comes more from a sense of "why not" or "I should because it's right" rather than sincerity.
Her time in the forest has left her with several unfortunate habits such as biting and om rare occassions she can get pretty wild and does not have the best sense of decorum
All in all though she can be pretty friendly and carry a conversation herself. She loves adventuring for the sake of adventuring and seeing new sights.
She also likes fighting. A lot. She may be a WHM but she's not afraid to bloody or get bloodied. This is one of the few things she keeps under wraps, however, and probably doesn't even realize herself. It's a result of not knowing how to properly handle her anger.
She has a tonberry friend
Tail is exceptionally long and she often curls it around her leg for safety. Fangs.
18 at the very beginning of ARR. 20 at the start of HW. Probably 22 come the start of StB and 24 at the start of ShB.
Can also play her in scenarios in which Lavanda isn't a WoL and in those cases she is older.
MNK/WHM combo. No tank skills but definitely can and HAS taken a walloping and probably enjoyed it sometimes
Failed Warrior as she was unable to tame ~*THE BEAASSTT*~
Nidhogg's eye probably responded to her well hidden wrath but she never took up the lance..
Please note that Miel's history contains child abuse/emotional abuse/allusions to eating disorders/Factitious disorder among the general fuckery you can find in FFXIV.

Celebrations (INCOMPLETE)
Nov. 19th, 2019 09:14 amThis was....a lot. Obviously the Kha clan had their celebrations but considering how tight knit a community they were nothing felt anywhere near as big as this.
At the very least it was nice that it was an entirely casual affair and that they could escape to the Rising Stones where it was mostly the Scions and other people they knew. Miel could be sociable for a good amount of time when needed but this was much even for the superficially extroverted Raen.
Yet in here with her brother she was admittedly having fun. With so much happening it had been hard to find a time to really just settle down and truly reflect on the fact that they had done it---they had destroyed Ultima and driven back the Imperial forces from Eorzea.
Miel was still intensely unsure of how involved in this they should have gotten but...they did and they had done what few had ever been able to do.
There was some pride to take in that, and maybe, just maybe it could help some of the souls lost during the attack on the Waking Sands rest easier.
Right now she was winding her way through the crowd with some alarmingly large tankards of mead. She plopped down next to her brother and set one down next to him.
"Hey little man, thing you can handle a couple of drinks with me?" She joked.

Failed To Open Up Again
Nov. 19th, 2019 09:04 amWhen Gaius had reached out to her and Lavanda for their aid, Miel could never have predicted the series of events that would transpire.
The Raens that he had adopted were not the first of his children she had met. Cid, Nero Lucia and Livia had all been people who he had taken care of and who considered him somewhat of a parent but all of them except Lucia were...
She didn't know. Perhaps because they were all far older than she, perhaps because they weren't Raen, it had been hard to relate to them as much and thus she had never really thought about it before. So she had been shocked when she all heard them referring to him as 'father' and to see that Gaius in turn cared deeply for them.
Loved them.
And they loved each other so much.
In that love and the extreme actions they took Miel could see so much of herself and her brother. Destroying the Weapons had reopened old wounds and brought back fears of so many very likely what ifs that could have been had things happened even just slightly differently in her life.
Who knows. She could have ended up in a situation much like them--there had been a Garlean who had taken note of her inventiveness and even brought her some books on magitech when she was young, but her mother had kept him well away when the interest started to increase. She once thought it was for her protection. Now she knew better.
She had spent a lot of the time following the destruction of the Diamond Weapon with Allie and now she was heading out to the memorial.
She wasn't surprised to find her brother there in the slightest.
"Lavanda." She greeted quietly, drawing up next to him. In her hands she carried flowers.
Buttons — 08/01/2023 10:01 PM
Lavanda sat on the cobblestones, back to the small garden opposite the memorial. His arms were wrapped around his knees, very clearly lost in troubling thoughts that darkened his face and left horrible creases in his brow. At his sister's greeting he turns to look at her, spots the flowers in her arms. He understands, and nods back. He ... wasn't much for talking, right then.
Space Coco — 08/02/2023 10:44 PM
She steps forward and lays them before the memorial, looking at it. They had gotten this built rather quickly, hadn't they? It was good. The children of Werlyt all deserved to be remembered especially after everything they had done but...
Personally things such as this had never helped Miel. She thought them good as a show of respect which was why she had made a semi-proper memorial for Yotsuyu but...
She still felt the same. It didn't ease the pain.
With the flowers in place she sat back next to her brother and more out of a sense of ritual than anything offered a silent prayer. When finished she gently laid a hand on his shoulder, her tail seeking his out.
"....Allie is. Still struggling but she's conscious and speaking. Thought you'd like to know."
That woman was stronger than she could ever be.

Teasing Brothur
Nov. 19th, 2019 09:03 amHe doesn't even remember why he's on the rampart to begin with, leaning against the snow-covered stone as he watches the grounds below. It must be some sort of training regimine that he has accidentally stumbled upon, Haurchefant with his men running through drills.
How could he not watch? With the way the snow catches in Haurchefant's hair, the grace with which he swings his sword and blocks attacks in return, the smile on the man's face when one of his recruits does exceptionally well...
Lavanda sighs, crossing his arms comfortably over his stomach as he watches, tail swaying to and fro in a steady rhythm.

It's rare for Miel to leave the warm sanctuary of the indoors if there wasn't some task that needs to be done. She hates the cold, always has and always will and its chill seems to seep into her bones far more easily than it does others.
Anyone who knows her would easily be able to guess why.
Yet there's no one for her to help tend to in the infirmary, no other task to keep her occupied and she's more than a little tired of listening to Alphinaud's self righteous moralizing and so she had come wandering the camp. Her feet had brought her up here to the rampart and she pauses, surprised to see Lavanda who seemed utterly transfixed on a point somewhere on the ground. She follows the line of his gaze...then grins before continuing to watch him for a couple beats more.
"You stare at him any harder and he will incinerate more thoroughly than if you had cast Mega Flare on him." She finally calls out teasingly, beginning to bridge the gap between them. When she's by her brother's side she pulls her cloak and scarf tighter around her before looking down at the training as well.
"So. How would you rate him?" Did she mean that in terms of his fighting prowess? How well he led the training session? Did she mean that in terms of looks? Or something else?
That was up for Lavanda to pick.

Failed To Open Up
Nov. 19th, 2019 08:59 amMiel was out on the pier of the Doman Enclave, overlooking the sea. Night was beginning to fall and most of the others had settled down to dine, but she found more than food what she needed right now was some fresh air. The events of the storming of Doma Castle just a day prior still weighed heavily on her, and everything she had been trying so hard to ignore ever since the beginning of their journey here now came at her with full force.
Her mind returns to that day she had laid eyes on Yotsuyu for the first time in the village of Isari, of the heinous things she had done to the people there. The Raen had been so shocked both to see her there and to see the person that she had become that she was almost certain she must be mistaken.
Gods. How she wished she was but after hearing her story in Doma Castle, Miel could fully understand what had led her down that path.
The covered bowl of food sat next to her, untouched and now cold.
Shirogane Tsuruyo. How long had it been since she last heard that name? She had almost forgotten it but with every person who's lips it had passed she found herself becoming angrier and more bitter, meeting every instance with a puzzled smile and simple shrug of her shoulders.
Yet she couldn't lie to Yotsuyu. Never to her.
Now she was gone forever and Miel was simply left with the burning questions: What if she had gone back for her? What if she had told Lavanda about her? Could she have been saved? Could she had been spared such a horrifying life?
She thinks so and the guilt is like a choker, slowly tightening more and more around her throat.

Trying To Open Up
Nov. 19th, 2019 08:56 amIt had been roughly three weeks since Miel had left the Rising Stones, saying that she needed some time alone to process. She had left the Scions with worried looks, and she supposes she can't blame them. None had ever seen her without a smile on her face, much less admitting to anything like that.
Truth be told, Miel wasn't even entirely sure what she meant by that, or even what exactly she intended to do at the time. Grief had ever been a companion to her, but it had been unknown to her, much less expressed after years of conditioning and denial, keeping it buried deep within her.
She had no idea how to handle grief in any healthy way.
So for once Miel choses to let her heart rather than her mind decide, and the first place her feet take her to mourn is the place where Wilred's body was found.
From there she returns to the Waking Sands, where they had lost so many of the Scions when Gaius had hunted for her and Lavanda.
She visits the kobolds of the 789th order to check on Ga Bu and spends long hours talking to him, and receiving silence in return.
To Haurchefant's grave where his sword and shield remained, shining as ever, the piece of his gambeson where Lavanda had stitched his scale was tied securely to the tomb, and all around were withered bouquets. Miel held her hand out and channeled the energy around her to make them blossom once more.
Ysayle had no marker to remember her by, yet she recalled all too well flowers that had been laid out on Azys Lha not far from its aetheryte, and she gave those the same treatment she gave Haurchefant's, laying out some of her own.
The next was perhaps the hardest. Rhalgar's Reach was the closest she had come to losing her brother on that day when they first met Zenos, and there was an eternal testament to that. She walked over to where he had fallen and there the earth was blackened and dead, making the rest of Gyr Abania look as vibrant and flourishing as the Shroud. Her memories of that day are blurry, blinded by fury and anguish as she'd been. All she knows is that at some point Zenos had left. At some point she'd dropped to her brother's side, white-faced and terrified and reaped all the energy from the land around her to heal him.
People were ignorant of healing magic. While there at least was the understanding it could not revive the dead, they seemed to believe that anything could be healed and it was simply a matter of skill. They didn't understand it couldn't mend ruptured organs. They didn't understand it couldn't make chronic conditions disappear. Somehow Zenos' attack had managed to miss anything vital and that was the only thing that kept Lavanda from dying…not her magic. For if it had nothing she nor Krile nor Alphinaud could have done would have prevented him from dying....all that would have changed was that she would have scorched more of the earth and extinguished her own life trying even knowing the futility of it all.
In Castrum Abania she recalls Conrad, an incredible man and leader taking way too see by the revolting tactics of the Empire's prince, a man who cared not to sacrifice his own men if it meant taking down his enemies.
And at long last she returns to her homeland where she made a tombstone some distance from Castrum Fluminis. The only person she had told about this was Lavanda for she knew that it would be met with anger, and in all likelihood defaced. It's not as dirty as she'd expect, and once more Miel has to remind herself it had only been roughly a month on the Source. Still she cleans it, lays down flowers, and cuts her hair at last to lay down before it.
And cries.
The culmination of a lifetime of hurt and loss finally comes spilling forth and she sobs, wails, lets it all pour forth.
When she finally returns to the Rising Stones she doesn’t feel any better but at the very least she has some ideas of things that need to change…something that she’s wanted to directly address for years but never has. So after greeting everyone with a weak and tired smile, she goes to Lavanda’s room and gives it a knock.
“Lavanda, are you there? I’m back.”
